ClaimShelf for iPhone
Support
Practical answers for local documents, reminders, backup, and recovery.
Where are my documents stored?
ClaimShelf keeps originals, previews, recognized text, and facts in its protected app container on your iPhone. ClaimShelf does not have an account or developer-operated document server.
What happens if iOS offloads ClaimShelf?
Automatic iOS offload normally removes the app binary while preserving its Documents and Library data. Reinstalling the app should reopen that data. Manually deleting ClaimShelf can remove its local data, so keep an encrypted backup current.
How do I make a backup?
Open Settings in ClaimShelf, choose Back Up Now, and create a passphrase. Save the resulting .claimshelfbackup file somewhere you control. Pro can also keep an automatic encrypted backup in ClaimShelf’s iCloud Drive container.
Can you recover my backup passphrase?
No. ClaimShelf never sends or stores the passphrase on a developer server. Without the correct passphrase, an encrypted backup cannot be restored. Store it in a trusted password manager or another place only you can access.
How do I restore after reinstalling?
On a fresh installation, ClaimShelf checks for its optional iCloud Drive backup before you create a new library. You can also open Settings, choose Restore Backup, select a .claimshelfbackup file, and enter its passphrase. ClaimShelf verifies the complete archive before replacing the current library.
Why did I not receive a notification?
Check that the action is still open, has a future deadline, and ClaimShelf notifications are allowed in iOS Settings. ClaimShelf schedules only future reminder times. Apple Reminders mirroring is a separate optional setting.
What does Apple Reminders mirroring do?
When enabled, ClaimShelf creates a neutral reminder in a dedicated ClaimShelf list managed by Apple Reminders. This can keep a deadline visible even when ClaimShelf is not on your Home Screen. Turn Apple Reminders off in ClaimShelf to remove linked items, or revoke access in iOS Settings.
Why can’t I import a PDF?
ClaimShelf 1.0 accepts readable PDFs up to 30 pages and limits an import to 100 MB. Password-protected, corrupted, empty, or unsupported files are rejected without changing your library.
How does Recently Deleted work?
Moving a document to Recently Deleted removes it from Shelf and Next and cancels its ClaimShelf reminders. You can restore it for 30 days. Permanent deletion removes the metadata and locally stored originals and cannot be undone.
How do I export readable originals?
Settings > Export My Data creates an unencrypted JSON metadata file and shares the original files. Because the destination may not be encrypted, ClaimShelf asks for confirmation first.
Still need help?
Email the app version, iOS version, what you expected, and what happened. Do not attach sensitive documents unless you intentionally want to share them.
